Plants in home

Comfort Maximized – From New Plants to Furnace Service

With cooler temperatures settled in and days that seem like there’s very little any sunlight, it can be tough to always feel like your home is a cozy place to be. That extends far beyond completing annual furnace service too, because there are a variety of things you can do to help make your home feel comfortable even when your furnace is running at its best.

Here are four that we find especially helpful here in McMurray:

  • Seal air leaks. Air leaks, whether they’re around your windows or your doors, could mean a great deal of air is escaping your home. And, the air that you’ve just paid to be heated or cooled is going outside also. There are various choices that can help you shut those gaps, from weatherstripping to caulking, and they are pretty basic fixes for homeowners to do themselves.
  • Swap your furnace filter. This is one of the most critical things you can do to not only improve your furnace’s efficiency, but also to help save you money. Plus, you don’t need to have your furnace service technician to do it, you can handle it yourself. It’s normally recommended to change your furnace filter every one or two months to get the most out of its performance, but some can last even longer.
  • Buy plants. Indoor plants can provide a number of comforts for your home. Not only are they visually pleasing, they can likely better your indoor air quality as well because plants absorb a variety of contaminants that are emitted from various common household cleaners, paints and other products.
  • Furnace service. This should be something that you’re already doing, but it never hurts to get a reminder. Having furnace service done annually helps make sure that your furnace is in working-order, and if there’s a need for repairs, those can be addressed so your comfort isn’t compromised.

It doesn’t have to feel overwhelming to keep a comfortable home when winter sets in. Feel free to give us a call at 724-745-7404 or arrange an appointment online to talk about any of these suggestions or find out more about furnaces, our furnace service or anything else comfort related.
